It is the sixth year in a row that the figures have increased following a slump in 2013 when traveller numbers fell to 1,441,000.
Matt Thomas, group chief executive for Ports of Jersey, said that a joined-up government approach was partly responsible for the success.
‘We are really pleased to have delivered a sixth consecutive year of growth in passenger numbers through Jersey Airport,’ he said.
‘The connectivity provided by the airport is crucial for our tourism industry, for business and importantly for residents who can enjoy regular access across mainland UK.
‘Our route development team at Ports of Jersey works closely with Visit Jersey, government, tourism and business associations to sell Jersey as a destination to airlines.’
Flights to a number of UK regions saw a rise with passengers flying to and from the north-west growing 14%, the south-west 5% and the London market 5% with the latter carrying in excess of 819,000 passengers in 2019.
