THOUSANDS of Islanders enjoyed the Jersey International Air Display as planes old and new took to the skies above St Aubin’s Bay.

Although strong winds grounded some aircraft, dozens of planes managed to take part in the event.

Highlights included performances from Swedish fighter jets, the Dornier SeaStar sea plane and the Gnat.

Although the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight was cancelled because of the wind, the Lancaster performed a solo flight and organisers also managed to source a Spitfire.

The event was closed by the Baltic Bees display team
