LES ORMES RESORT is set to become the island’s largest padel centre after securing funding for a major expansion of its rapidly growing facility.

The resort will invest £200,000 into developing additional courts, with £75,000 of the project supported through the Better Business Grant from Jersey Business.

Since opening in May last year, Les Ormes Padel has quickly established itself as one of Jersey’s busiest sporting venues, welcoming an average of around 1,000 players every week. Participation regularly increases during school holidays, with strong demand from the resort’s Junior and Teen Padel Academy, as well as coaching sessions, social play and tournaments.

The expansion will add three new double courts and a single court to the left-hand side of the sports building, complementing the four panoramic double courts already in operation.

Sports and Leisure Manager Steve Dunford said the development reflected the growing popularity of the sport locally.

“This new grant will enable Les Ormes to become the largest padel centre in Jersey,” he said. “Transforming the building into a dedicated padel and wellness hub has brought an entirely new demographic to the site, which also helps generate wider support for the Bosdet Foundation and its work with children across the island.”

The padel expansion forms part of a wider plan to develop a leisure hub at the resort, catering for both islanders and visiting holidaymakers.

Alongside the courts, a new wellness studio has recently opened above the facility, offering classes including Pilates, aerial yoga and sound bath sessions. The resort gym has also been fully refurbished, with an expanded training space and new high-tech equipment. Membership options for locals are expected to be announced soon.

Jersey Business chief executive Paul Murphy said the Better Business Grant was designed to support ambitious local investment.

“When businesses such as Les Ormes expand, the benefits are felt across the wider economy – from employment and skills to visitor experience and long-term resilience,” he said.

Padel – one of the fastest-growing racket sports in the world – continues to attract players of all abilities thanks to its accessible format and social appeal, with the Les Ormes facility also proving popular for corporate events and birthday celebrations.
