Jets’ opponents YMCA Magic are based out of Leeds and also qualified for Premier League 3 through the regional play-off finals as the winners of the Yorkshire & Humberside regional league.

Jets head coach Serena Kersten said ahead of the opening game: “The first game is always going to provide lots of excitement and nerves, but ultimately the girls are as ready as they can be.

“We’ve had a great pre-season, the energy in the group has really been invigorated for the start of this new challenge for us and the girls have earned their right to be here. This is where we belong.

“Although I can’t be there in person tomorrow, I’m really excited to watch the girls and see how they get on. It’ll be tough, us and YMCA Magic are the new kids on the block, so we know they will be wanting to make a strong start to their own campaign.

After a stunning run in Regional League 1 last season, which resulted in the achievement of the club’s ultimate goal of promotion through the play-offs, the Jets finally find themselves back in Premiership netball.

“I expect it to be a tight game, we know they’re a good side who play with a lot of speed, but equally we have a lot of speed ourselves as well as our strength in depth, so it should be a good contest.”

Jets boast Super League experience in their squad this week with the naming of Team Bath’s Lily Jones, alongside the talented youth of Grace Thompson, who is also in the Team Bath Academy set up.

Strength in depth has been an area of strength Kersten and co have highlighted for some time now. From the experience of Jacy Brown to the youth of Florence Allo, the Jets squad is littered with talent across the starting and replacement players.
