THE 2025 CHARITY CUP final will be a repeat of last season, after Jersey Wanderers and Grouville cruised through their respective semi finals on Thursday evening.

2024 Charity Cup winners Jersey Wanderers secured a 3-1 victory over a well-organized St Ouen away from home thanks to goals from Josh Coutanche, Harvey A’Court and new signing Hugo Pereira.

Wanderers made a bright start to the semi final, earning themselves a penalty in the first ten minutes after a foul by St Ouen’s keeper Jonathon Le Blancq on Wanderers forward Charlie Yates. Arthur Illingworth stepped up to take the spot kick, however Le Blancq redeemed himself with an impressive save.

The home side rallied from this with the crowd behind them and hit back with a moment of their own, breaking the deadlock after just 13 minutes through their talisman, Jake Prince.

Wanderers remained in the game though and earned themselves their second penalty of the half, following a poorly timed slide tackle.

This time, it was new signing Hugo Pereira who stepped up, showing his teammate how it was done with a coolly converted penalty to level the score at 1-1.

The visitors then landed a killer blow, taking the lead before half time, as Pereira continued to impress, this time turning provider for Josh Coutanche to make it 2-1.

An attritional second half followed where the hosts pushed, but a late header from Harvey A’Court sealed the win for Wanderers.

In the other semi final, Grouville secured a thumping 5-1 victory away over St Peter. Attacking duo Harrison Moon and Diogo Ferreira Velosa were in fine form, both bagging braces.

The reigning league and cup double winners from last season have looked in sparkling form early on and proved their worth last night with a clinical performance, particularly in the attacking third.

Velosa broke the deadlock on 25 minutes, before Moon landed a killer blow with a second just before half time. On the return, both men netted again alongside one from Elton Atat in a ruthless nine minute second half burst to take the game away from the home side.

The 2025 Charity Cup Final is scheduled for a 18.45pm start at Springfield Stadium next Tuesday, 19 August.
