On Wednesday, a delegation from Jersey consisting of Senator Sir Philip Bailhache, the States of Jersey’s minister for external relations, JFA board member David Brookland, and legal adviser Dennis Dixon met with Uefa officials in Geneva to formally submit the application.

They were welcomed by Mr Theodore Theodoridis, deputy general secretary of Uefa, Mr Alasdair Bell, director of legal affairs and Mr Jacques Bondallaz, head of sports legal services.

The delegation was made very welcome and the application was tabled. In response, the deputy general secretary announced that he would be organising a visit to Jersey by Uefa officials during 2016.

Jersey’s formal application will be discussed at Uefa’s next Ordinary Congress, which is due to be held in Budapest, Hungary on 23 March next year.
