STATES Members yesterday paved the way for their pay rise to go ahead despite hundreds of Islanders facing an uncertain employment future and tough economic times.

WE are all entitled to assess whether States Members are worth more, or less, than the £45,182 that they currently receive in salary and automatic expenses.
Seeing sense over pay rise
THE principle that States Members must be paid so that the opportunity to represent Islanders politically is open to anyone is now questioned by very few. Even so, the problem of how much Members should be paid is an entirely different matter.
