A UK national seen by witnesses “driving all over the road” before “colliding into a wall” has admitted operating his company vehicle at more than double the legal alcohol limit.
Jamie Lee Henderson (39) committed the single drink-driving offence on 24 June 2026, having recently moved to Jersey as a contractor looking for a “fresh start”.
In the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, it was heard that the defendant and several others were seen leaving an address in Trinity at night-time before getting into a company-owned minivan while in an intoxicated state.
Centenier Alissa Ozouf, prosecuting, said that Henderson was later seen driving the vehicle recklessly in the parish of Trinity and “various other roads in Jersey”.
“One witness described the vehicle as having significant damage to it, and said that it had collided with a wall and was driving all over the road,” she added.
Henderson was later seen by police officers pulling the minivan into a car park near La Route De La Cote in St Martin.
He was arrested, and a blood sample found him to be driving with 168mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood – over two times the legal limit.
It was heard that the he had been previously convicted in the UK for similar offences in 2014, 2018 and 2020 respectively.
Advocate Chris Baglin, defending, said that his client is “not proud” of his past record but “does see his time here as something of a fresh start”.
He asked the court to adjourn sentencing for a “full background report” to be prepared.
Assistant Magistrate Adam Clarke, presiding, acceded to Advocate Baglin’s request and postponed sentencing until 15 September for a pre-sentence report to be completed.
Henderson was ordered to surrender his passport and bailed with conditions to remain at his listed address and not leave the Island.
