A FORMER Guernsey Chief Minister has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
Deputy Gavin St Pier and his wife Jane were arrested by Guernsey Police on Friday 1 May, marking the second time the pair have been detained in recent months.
The arrests form part of an ongoing investigation that previously led to the couple being detained in December 2025 on suspicion of harassment.
It centres on complaints made against them in relation to the couple’s support of islanders who allege poor practice in the island’s health service.
Last year, the former chief minister escaped sanction by the States Assembly after sharing details of their cause with a Guardian journalist.
In a statement, Deputy St Pier said that he denied all allegations but would resign and stand again for his vacant seat on the Policy and Resources Committee.
