THE newly restored Jersey Opera House will host its first professional pantomime – which is set to take the stage as part of its 2026 Christmas programme.
A production of Jack and the Beanstalk, which is being co-produced with Evolution Productions, is due to be performed between 18 December 2026 and 3 January 2027.
Evolution Productions are five-time winners of Pantomime of the Year at the UK Pantomime Awards.
Audiences have been told they can expect “expect a spectacular, family-friendly show packed with music, comedy and theatrical magic”.
Sebastian Warrack, chief executive of the Jersey Opera House, said: “Bringing a professional pantomime to Jersey Opera House for the first time is incredibly exciting and marks another important step in our future.
“Pantomime is a much-loved theatrical tradition, and working with Evolution Productions allows us to deliver something truly special for Island audiences, while also creating meaningful professional opportunities for local performers.”
Rebecca Stanier, programme manager of the Jersey Opera House, added: “When planning our Christmas programme, it was important to broaden the range of work that audiences can enjoy at the Opera House. Jack and the Beanstalk introduces a large-scale professional pantomime to our festive season.
“Pantomime presents a first theatrical experience for so many, introducing this will offer a high-quality theatrical experience to all audiences during one of the busiest times of year. We hope it will become a new festive tradition for many.”
The pantomime will offer roles to local young performers, cast members, and technical staff, however it will still be a fully professional production. Auditions will be advertised later in the year.
Paul Hendy, writer and producer at Evolution Productions, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be working with the brilliant team at Jersey Opera House. We can’t wait to bring this spectacular pantomime to this fabulous theatre, and we’re really looking forward to discovering some fantastic talent on the Island.”
Tickets will go on sale from 12 March and will be available to purchase through the Opera House box office.
Local professional performers are being invited to make submissions, via agents or Spotlight links, by emailing casting@evolution-productions.co.uk. Further details about auditions for ensemble and young performer roles will be announced later in the year.
There are also opportunities for stage management and technical support for this production, with those interested in these roles invited to email admin@jerseyoperahouse.co.uk
