MORE than 85,000 passengers travelled to and from Jersey in January, with growth of 4% at the airport and 15% at the harbour.

Ports of Jersey head of connectivity Paul Holley said: “We are pleased to see a strong start to the year which bodes well for the remainder of the year.

“At the airport, British Airways delivered strong growth, up 16%, and we are pleased to see Loganair making rapid progress to establish its base in Jersey.

“With the launch of KLM’s service to Amsterdam and easyJet’s service to Southend starting in April and Jet2’s expanded programme starting in May, the signs are positive for a strong year at the airport.”

At the harbour, passenger numbers to and from St Malo were up 31% in January – the highest level since 2017.

More than 85,000 tickets have already been sold for the remainder of the year, according to ferry operator DFDS.

Jersey Chamber of Commerce president Lee Madden added: “Passenger numbers at the airport and harbour are a key indicator of the strength of our economy.

“The growth in January is encouraging, but I am particularly excited about the prospects for growth in 2026 and the direct benefits that will have for our business community and our visitor economy.”
