ISLANDERS will be able to bid for hundreds of weird, wonderful and unexpected lots this weekend to help raise money for those in need over the festive period as part of an annual auction.

The Jersey Christmas Appeal Charity Auction, which will be broadcast on Channel 103 on Sunday from 9am, features more than 220 lots.

The star lots include a helicopter flight, a week’s stay in a ski chalet in Chamonix, the chance to be included in a Peter James novel, lunch with the Chief Minister, and a co-presenting slot on Channel 103’s breakfast programme.

This year’s list also includes experiences at facilities usually closed to the public. Bidders can tour the underground wastewater cavern beneath Fort Regent, the Bellozanne sewage treatment works, the La Collette energy-from-waste plant, and the Jersey Post sorting office.

Families will find options ranging from a Christmas sing-along on Le Petit Train, to guided puffin walks, lighthouse tours, lambing sessions, foraging trips and mocktail-making classes for children.

Sports lessons, craft workshops, food hampers and hospitality vouchers also appear throughout the list.

The appeal raises funds each year to support households who require help with food, heating and essential costs over the Christmas period. Last year, the initiative generated more than £62,000.

The full list of lots will be published in Saturday’s JEP.
