THOSE with a flair for public speaking and a love of romance are being invited to use their skills to help couples tie the knot.
Jersey’s Office of the Superintendent Registrar has opened applications for up to three independent civil celebrants to conduct secular wedding ceremonies in Jersey.
Described as a unique and rewarding opportunity, the role is suited to people with strong communication skills, an appreciation for the act of marriage and a sound understanding of Jersey’s marriage laws.
Civil celebrants are self-employed but regulated by the Superintendent Registrar.
“This is an opportunity to take on a varied and interesting role,” said Superintendent Registrar Claire Follain.
“We want couples who are getting married in Jersey to have a wide choice of civil celebrant, whilst being assured that the celebrant will have the skills, knowledge and commitment to deliver a wonderful wedding ceremony in accordance with the law.”
Anyone who wishes to apply will undergo a three-stage selection process.
Firstly, they should send an application with their CV, a covering letter explaining interest in the role and a business plan.
The next stage involves an interview and presentation, followed by a two-day training session in early December 2025 and a one-day practical examination.
More information can be found on the Office of the Superintendent Registrar’s page on the gov.je website.
The deadline for applications is Friday 24 October.
