EMERGENCY crews raced against a rapidly rising tide during a “time critical rescue” on Friday night after a man suffered traumatic injuries in a fall from rocks south of Havre Des Pas.

Jersey Fire and Rescue said they received a call about the accident just after 8pm, with both land crews and the inshore rescue boat being sent to the scene due to the man’s injuries and inaccessibility of the location.

States of Jersey Ambulance Service and Jersey Coastguard were also sent down as part of the coordinated emergency effort.

“The incident was made more complex by a rapidly rising tide, which posed a risk to casualty and rescuers and time was of the essence,” the Fire Service said.

Paramedics provided urgent on-scene treatment as crews decided the safest way to evacuate the man.

“The decision was made to transfer the casualty into the Fire Service rescue boat, and he was then moved to a safe landing point where a waiting ambulance transferred him to hospital,” they confirmed.

“We would like to thank our emergency service partners for their crucial support in resolving this incident to a safe conclusion,” JFRS officials added.
