STUDENTS and staff from a local school have officially become Guinness World Record holders – after joining a global cook-along led by Jamie Oliver that taught more than 10,000 young people how to make pasta and tomato sauce from scratch.
The initiative, which took place last Tuesday (1 July), 15 students from Beaulieu joined cooks from 42 countries across six continents.
After going through strict checks with the Guinness World Records organisation, the project has now officially been awarded the record for the largest cookery lesson held in multiple venues.
During the session, students followed a cookery lesson broadcast live from the Jamie Oliver Cookery School in London, taught by two of his chefs and moderated by the famous chef himself.
They learned to make pasta and tomato sauce using fresh ingredients – which they either ate for lunch or took home to enjoy later.
The lesson was part of Mr Oliver’s 10 Skills Programme, which aims to equip young people with the ability to cook and budget for themselves.

Beaulieu headteacher Matthew Burke said it was an “incredible experience for our students and staff to be part of something this inspiring and global”.
“Cooking is a vital life skill, and this event not only taught our students practical skills but also reminded them of the power of community and collaboration,” he added.
