ISLANDERS are being urged to leave plenty of time to check in for flights this weekend, with more than 30,000 passengers expected to pass through the Airport during the Easter break.
Ports of Jersey said that there might be queues during busy times, but that every effort would be made to ensure that everyone got to their flights as quickly as possible.
Maria Le Tiec, head of security at Ports of Jersey, said: “We are proud to be one of the first airports in the British Isles to have installed the new security screening equipment which allows liquids and electronic devices to remain in hand baggage. But we’d like to remind passengers that many UK airports are still in the process of installing the new system.
“Passengers should check what they can take through security at every airport they are travelling through. They may still need to transport liquid in 100ml containers in clear plastic bags at some airports.”
Islanders can leave liquids, laptops, tablets and other electronic devices in hand baggage.
However, if a passenger has more than one electronic device, one should be left in the bag and any others left in a separate tray.
Liquids and gels in containers of up to two litres are also now allowed in hand luggage
Ports of Jersey recommend arriving two hours before departure time for most flights, and 90 minutes for Blue Islands.
