A 46-YEAR-OLD Islander who punched and bit another man and lunged at him with a knife – and then damaged the police cell he was detained in – has been jailed for two years and one month.
Stephen George King was with his victim on 6 May at an address in St Martin when an argument broke out between the pair.
The Royal Court heard that King, who was drunk, refused to leave the address when asked to do so and became violent – punching the other man several times and biting him on the upper arm, causing an injury.
He then grabbed a knife from the kitchen sink and lunged at his victim, but did not make contact with him.
Police firearms officers were called at 11pm and arrested King nearby. While being held in custody he damaged a police cell.
He admitted grave and criminal assault and malicious damage and was sentenced by the Royal Court yesterday.
He was also handed a five-year restraining order.
