FIVE candidates have undergone a final round of interviews in the search for the government’s interim chief executive – with the successful applicant due to be announced shortly.
Due diligence is now under way before the appointee is confirmed.
The search for an interim head of the civil service follows the sudden resignation in March of Suzanne Wylie, who will be returning to Northern Ireland to lead the Chamber of Commerce there. While Mrs Wylie has a contractual notice period of six months, the government agreed to shorten this. Her last day in the role will be 31 July.
With changes to the chief executive’s job currently under consideration, the government is seeking an interim leader to hold the role for nine to 12 months.
Chief Minister Kristina Moore previously invited applications from Islanders who might have wanted to take a sabbatical from their current employment.
Applications opened in mid-May and a total of 27 candidates applied for the role – ten of whom were Jersey residents. The government has not confirmed if any of the final candidates live in the Island.
Contractual discussions are currently under way before the candidate is recommended to the States Employment Board, who will then confirm the appointment.
