After discussions with ministers, the Chief Minister Ian Gorst has announced he has decided to reappoint Senator Ozouf as an Assistant Chief Minister.
Senator Ozouf will also take on responsibility for financial services and the digital economy.
But Deputy Montfort Tadier believes that is a role which should be dedicated its own minister and States members should vote on who that person should be.
However, St John Constable Chris Taylor said bringing Senator Ozouf back was not the right decision.
He said: ‘I think it’s political suicide that the Chief Minister has gone ahead and reappointed him. I think it is a crazy decision.’
The Chief Minister has signed a ministerial decision to make the appointment.
