Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Dalton is due to replace General Sir John McColl, who will complete his five-year term in November.
Sir Stephen is to take up the post early next year and will move to the Island with his wife, Lady Anne Dalton.
The pair, who have two children, have visited on a number of occasions and enjoy the annual Jersey International Air Display.
