Morgan Huelin trial: Father may have joked that Morgan was dead

Details of the exchange between the father and son, referred to in reporting of the trial as Defendant One, emerged during the fifth day of the trial of five boys charged with perverting the course of justice.

The Crown alleges the teenagers moved an unconscious Mr Huelin, who had consumed a cocktail of illegal and prescription drugs the night before, 160 metres down the road from the garage and it is the prosecution’s case that they moved him to prevent police searching a property where one of the group had class A drugs and indecent images of children.

All the defendants deny the charges and Defendant One also denies possessing class A drugs MDMA and LSD, importing the class C drug etizolam and possessing four indecent images of children.

The trial, which was adjourned until Monday, continues and Magistrate Bridget Shaw, who is sitting with panel members Gary Martin and Jean Cross, said she expected the panel to retire to reach its verdict on Monday afternoon.
