Rose Dawson, who submitted the proposals for part of her family-owned farm off Grande Route de Faldouet, said she was disappointed for the dozens of boat owners who needed space to store their vessels securely in the winter months.
Following a public planning meeting at which the L’Abri Farm scheme was unanimously rejected, Mrs Dawson said she had had support from a number of States departments and a huge number of boat owners.
‘I’m disappointed, obviously, not for us, but for the boat owners,’ she said.
‘This refusal isn’t against me, it’s against the boating community.
‘The decision also makes a mockery of all those States departments who have supported this.
‘I feel so strongly that this decision is unbalanced that we probably will take it to appeal.’
Mrs Dawson, who thanked those who had supported her scheme, added that the site of the proposed boat park – in a green zone field – had not been in agricultural use for 50 years.
In December a similar scheme she submitted was rejected by the Planning Applications Panel.
Under the new plans, the proposals were for storage only, and set out that no boat maintenance could take place at the park.
Two neighbours spoke against the scheme at the meeting, which was attended by a large number of boat owners who were in favour of the plans.
Gorey Boat Owners Association committee member Chris Le Masurier outlined the need for such a facility, but could not convince the Planning Committee – vice-chairman Philip Le Sueur and Deputies Russell Labey, Jeremy Maçon and Graham Truscott – to overturn the Planning Department’s recommendation for refusal.
Deputy Labey said: ‘The panel last time took a view that this was an inappropriate form of development for this site, and I don’t think there have been sufficient changes to alter that view.’
