A FISHMONGER with a hate of the sea is to join a crew in a 24-hour charity fishing challenge.
Vicky Boarder hopes to raise more than £10,000 during the gruelling high-sea event which is due to take place in October.
The 47-year-old mother-of-two from Grouville will join Captain Mick Michieli and his crew on his boat L’Ecume in aid of The Antoine Trust, the Oscar Maclean Foundation and The Company of Dogs for the event.
In 2010 Mrs Boarder completed a similar challenge but this time she hopes to raise even more money for charity.

She said: ‘Selling fish I can cope with but actually catching them is a completely different story.’
Mrs Boarder, who runs the Fresh Fish Company in Victoria Pier, said that she wanted to repeat the ‘horrible challenge’ in order to turn her fear of boats into something positive.
The Antoine Trust, which was founded in memory of Antoine Willing, who died of a cancerous brain tumour in 2012, supports Island children diagnosed with cancer, while the Oscar Maclean Foundation, which was set up last year in memory of Treasury Minister Alan Maclean’s son Oscar, who died in 2013, supports children who suffer from cancer and other chronic illnesses.
Mrs Boarder said: ‘They are boys who died before their time and the sense of adventure gained from this fishing experience is something that those two boys would have loved’.
The Company of Dogs, which started in April 2014, rescues dogs locally or from pounds in Southern Spain and attempts to rehome them to people wishing to adopt.
The date of the event is yet to be decided as it is on dependant on the captain’s schedule but on the day Mrs Boarder will be leaving St Helier harbour in the morning and heading out to France before returning back to Jersey with a boat full of fish.
Islanders are invited to help support Vicky’s event by donating through a sponsorship form available at The Fresh Fish Company.
