They fear that too much flexibility for certain types of development within the heavily protected Coastal National Park could be introduced, leading to changes in some of the Island’s most sensitive areas.

Deputy Duhamel says his changes will clarify and strengthen the Coastal National Park’s position, but the National Trust for Jersey disagrees.

The group’s discontent follows news that Economic Development Minister Alan Maclean is attempting to strike out discussion on changes involving the Island’s Coastal National Park and less restricted green zones from the forthcoming States debate.
