And a number of smaller shops selling goods from the internationally renowned retailer will be launched later this year.

Islanders will be able to buy up to 6,000 Tesco products – including those in the popular Everyday Value range – and the move has been hailed as ‘great news for consumers’ by Economic Development Minister Alan Maclean.

Up to 30 new jobs will be created this year – and a total of 200 could be created if the full-plans for the superstore come to fruition.
