The company’s corporate affairs director, Daragh McDermott, said that the company took the issue of protecting children online very seriously and that a new parental controls filter launched by British Telecom had been welcomed locally.

Earlier this week, BT announced that all its new customers would have the blocks – also known as the porn filter –automatically switched on. All existing customers will be contacted during 2014 to make a decision on whether or to sign up for the service.
