The instrument – the largest pipe organ in the Channel Islands – has been reinstalled in the south gallery of the church and was played for the first time at an Advent carol service earlier this month by assistant organist Benjamin Smith.

It will also be the centre of attention at the next major event to take place at the Town Church at the weekend, when the People’s Choir hold their Christmas concerts tonight and tomorrow night.

These concerts will raise money for the brain injury charity Headway and will include performances on the organ by Edward Bailhache, the son of Senator Sir Philip Bailhache and a former organ scholar at the church, who will travel from London especially to play at the concerts.

The concerts start at 7.30 pm and are open to all. They will include a collection for Headway.
