From Simon Wells.
REGARDING the new registration cards that have become a requirement for the population of Jersey, there seems to have been a lot of unnecessary scaremongering with regard to obtaining one and this is from some local individuals.
However, on the strength of hearing some of these horror stories I prepared every and any piece of confirmation I thought I would need to save the inconvenience that others have gone through.
On my arrival at Social Security I had visions of me having to phone up primary schools, children’s homes etc etc.
All I actually needed was my photo ID and I had to confirm my address and date of birth, but presumably, they already had the information at their fingertips, and the process was very straightforward. I was actually surprised how easy it was, given the accounts of others, prior to this.
Don’t get me wrong if others have struggled then I can only sympathise, but I would advise anyone, just in case you are not as fortunate as me, to make sure you have the correct documentation.
