The first prize was originally going to be £500,000 but poor sales of tickets – which cost £10 each – meant that Economic Development were forced to reduce the prize.

Economic Development Minister Alan Maclean remains optimistic about its future but said it was too early to be definite about whether it would be held in a different format next year.

He added that its main aim was to raise money for charitable causes and that the proceeds would be given to the Association of Jersey Charities.
