In response to criticism from parishioners at a public meeting on Thursday, Grouville Deputy Carolyn Labey said that the track would be more popular once a single safe route from Gorey Harbour through to town was finished.

The proposals include creating a small roundabout and cobbled traffic-calming measures along Rue à Don, but residents argued that extending the route was pointless because no cyclists used it.

‘People are not using it because only the section between Gorey and the proposed roundabout is safe,’ said Deputy Labey.
