Economic Development Minister Alan Maclean says that the Channel Islands have been given permission to appeal against Lord Justice Mitting’s ruling that the UK is entitled to shut down tax-free imports from the islands.

The UK is now expected to close the islands’ access to Low-Value Consignment Relief – the tax rule under which goods worth less than £15 can be imported into the UK from outside the EU without the 20% VAT – from 1 April.
