Notably absent from Senator Ian Gorst’s line-up are Treasury Minister Philip Ozouf and Education Minister James Reed, who would be replaced by Senator Ian Le Marquand and Deputy Patrick Ryan respectively if the Chief Minister-designate gets his way when the States vote tomorrow.
Deputy Ryan is one of two Members nominated making a return to politics after getting back into the House last month. The other is Senator Lyndon Farnham who is nominated to take over at Home Affairs.
Former Bailiff Senator Philip Bailhache, who was beaten by Senator Gorst to the job of Chief Minister by just three votes on Monday, will be an assistant minister at the Chief Minister’s department, as will Senator Paul Routier. They do not have to be elected.
Senator Ozouf has announced that he will stand for Treasury Minister, the position he currently holds, and, if unsuccessful, will stand for Health – a position he was asked by the Chief Minister to consider.
