Same-sex couples get full legal rights

The decision means that same-sex couples will soon be able to formalise their relationship with a civil ceremony and then benefit from tax, inheritance, pension and property rights the same as married couples.

And although they would not initially be allowed to have a ceremony in a religious building, Members adopted an amendment to the law which could make that possible at some point in the future.
