In a strongly worded statement to the States yesterday, the minister said that Condor’s current service was ‘well below acceptable standards’.

And he warned that if the firm wants to continue providing a car and passenger service it must consider whether it needs to invest in a new fleet of ferries.

He said: ‘I accept that Condor Ferries has taken action to improve its performance, but it is clear that matters are not resolved and performance of the fast ferry fleet remains well below acceptable standards.’
