The flag-raising ceremony commemorating the 30th anniversary of the current Jersey flag with its diagonal red cross, Jersey crest and Plantagenet crown took place at the top of Fort Regent at 1 pm.

The Bailiff, Michael Birt, Chief Minister Senator Terry Le Sueur, Treasury Minister Philip Ozouf, Environment Minister Freddie Cohen and Home Affairs Minister Ian Le Marquand, along with members of the Jersey Flag Group, all attended the event.

The group watched as the Island’s largest flag – a six-yarder – was hoisted by Mr Birt. Although it was nearly a windless day, after a few flicks of the rope, the flag began to wave gently in the breeze.
