The St Helier Roads Committee are pushing the minister to give them powers to deal with sign applications.

During this week’s committee meeting, St Helier Constable Simon Crowcroft agreed to write to Senator Cohen to see whether delegated powers could be given to the committee after a town trader went to them to complain about a five-month delay following a request to reinstate a sign.

Barry Jenkins of Fotosound, in Vine Street, says that he was told to take down a promotional sign – he believes after a complaint from a competitor – and that it has taken too long to get approval to put it back.
