Having beaten their Guernsey opponents by 36-0, the Island rugby team and are now preparing to face Ampthill in the National Three London League Champions Cup final at Twickenham on Saturday.

It will be the first time an Island side has played at the home of rugby.

Winger Ashley Maggs scored two of the tries in the Siam Cup, held at Foote’s Lane, in Guernsey, but the man of the match award went to scrum-half Brendan O’Brien, whose sniping runs set up a victory that was assured by the 21st minute.

‘We all knew that this game and the next (the Champions Cup final) would be so important to a season that’s been truly phenomenal,’ he said. ‘I’m just proud to have been part of it.’
