My cycle helmet undoubtedly prevented a serious injury

From Kieranne Grimshaw.
REGARDING your article on my bike accident on the Victoria Avenue cycle track, when I was knocked off my bike by a rope tied across the track, I would like to elaborate on some points.
Firstly, may I express my gratitude to a fellow cyclist, David Auckland, who on witnessing my fall, came to my aid and called an ambulance, staying with me until the ambulance arrived.
I would also like to mention the friendly and efficient ambulance crew who even took my (brand new) bike along to the hospital with me.
As my injuries included a cut to my eye and subsequent bruising, I would like to stress that my helmet doubtlessly prevented a serious head injury.
Finally, having had to have surgery to my right hand and suffered temporary limited use of my left shoulder, I would like to reiterate the request of the police to establish who tied the rope across the path.
If anyone does remember seeing anything suspicious in the area on Monday 12 April, or perhaps people hanging around the scaffolding on the cycle track (between laybys two and three), please contact the police, tel 612612.
