A MAJOR review could see the Bailiff, Attorney General, Solicitor General, Lieutenant-Governor and Dean removed from the States next year.
But there is no prospect of changes being in place by the time Sir Philip Bailhache’s successor takes over the role of Bailiff in June.
Deputy Bob Hill has tabled a proposition to review the roles of the unelected Members, and has the support of Chief Minister Terry Le Sueur.
The proposal, which will be debated on 3 February, calls on ministers to propose the members of the review panel and terms of reference in conjunction with the States reform committee – Privileges and Procedures – and bring firm proposals back to the States by the end of March.
