THE Bailiff, Sir Philip Bailhache, today talks publicly for the first time about his battle with cancer.
Sir Philip agreed to tell his story to raise awareness about prostate cancer, which kills around 10,000 men each year in Britain.
Despite the number of men who are affected, the disease does not get the same level of publicity as breast cancer, which is often described as the female equivalent of prostate cancer.
In today’s interviewin the JEP, Sir Philip talks about how his diagnosis was the result of a prostate specific antigen test. Although he stops short of recommending the controversial test, which the Island’s Health department believes can do more harm than good, he says that he is glad that he had one.
