Holiday Tours/WP Le Marquand, who run WP Skips, JH Michel & Son Ltd, WP Recycling and WP Recycling & Skip Hire, face being committed after it was decided that the penalty would be too severe to be dealt with in the Magistrate’s Court. Yesterday St Lawrence Centenier Hugh Gill told the the Magistrate, Ian Le Marquand, that the company’s failure to properly maintain at least nine different vehicles presented a significant danger to the public. The company, which was represented in court yesterday by Steven John Deveau (41), has pleaded guilty to 68 counts in total, covering nine separate occasions. Defence counsel Advocate Stephen Crane told the Magistrate that the vehicles were not defective because of poor maintenance standards but because of the nature of the work they were used for.
