A motion of no confidence was lodged yesterday by former panel member Deputy Gerard Baudains, who says that the panel’s record, one report published in 19 months, shows a lack of action. He has also criticised the panel’s ‘dysfunctional’ working methods. An attempt to put off the debate was made in the States yesterday by Deputy Duhamel, who said that the panel were just weeks away from publishing long-awaited reports on waste and the design of homes, but the debate was set down for 3 July. ‘Despite environmental issues rising fast up the political agenda, the Environment panel has failed to capitalise on the intense public interest,’ wrote De-puty Baudains in his proposition.
