And a second floor could be built on the Elizabeth Terminal to rehouse relocated staff from the customs, immigration and harbours departments. At present Maritime House is home to both the Customs and Immigration department and Jersey Harbours. It is a prime site that could attract an annual rental of more than £450,000 on the open market. The building also has 12 car parking spaces. But it is possible that the Home Affairs department could be intent on taking up more space in the building if Jersey Harbours staff were to move out. Assistant Economic Development Minister Alan Maclean confirmed that the potential move of Jersey Harbours staff to Elizabeth Terminal was one of a number that was being considered for the future of St Helier Harbour. Relocating staff into the terminal was appropriate because it is owned by Jersey Harbours and would be cost-effective.
