Island children are now fatter in general than their UK peers and Senator Stuart Syvret wants fatty foods to be made less appetising by hitting junk food buyers in the pocket.

The issue is set to divide the Council of Ministers when GST exemptions are discussed in the States on 24 October.

Chief Minister Frank Walker has already signalled that exempting healthy foods is riddled with problems and could cost too much.
