As the 470 teenagers got their results it became clear that Jersey students had scored better than those in the UK once again.
Students got more As and Bs than ever and achieved an overall pass rate of 99.3 per cent compared with the UK pass rate of 96.6 per cent.
Education Minister Mike Vibert said: ‘The figures released this morning surpass any that have gone before.
The A-level results are one of the most meaningful benchmarks against which any education service is judged.
These results show us that our service can be compared with the best anywhere.
These results represent a tremendous dividend on the investment that the community makes in education.’ Director of Education Tom McKeon echoed this, saying he was extremely pleased to see such good results.
He said: ‘The Island community can join with the students, their parents and teachers in celebrating another successful outcome in this year’s A-level examination results.’
