The move follows a complaint made by a man whose ticket was drawn out first at a draw for a £1,000 first prize but who won a runner-up prize instead.

A decision was made just before the draw took place that the prizes would be drawn in reverse order, and as a result he won £100 instead.

After a complaint by Sean McDonald, of Plat Douet Road, it is likely that the rules will be changed.

Assistant Economic Development Minister Alan Maclean said that Mr McDonald, a former Island football goalkeeper, contacted him and he has since looked into the concerns raised.

‘Having investigated, we know that no laws were broken,’ said Deputy Maclean, ‘but he raised an interesting statistical point that if a ticket is drawn out when a draw is made in reverse order, it has no chance of winning the main prize,’ said Deputy Maclean.
