Sir Peter, whose long public service to his native Island included serving as an elected States Member before joining the Crown Office, had been ill for some time.

He will be remembered as one of the heroes of the Occupation, as well as for his years as a distinguished lawyer, politician and judge.

Today the current Bailiff, Sir Philip Bailhache, described Sir Peter as ‘a great Jerseyman’ and a ‘deeply compassionate man strongly committed to the ideals of justice and fair play’.
