The Policy and Resources president says that he would welcome public debates with JDA members, but that the Island could suffer if they end up in charge at the end of the year.
They have promised to contest as many seats as possible at election time, and have set their sights on removing what they call the political ‘establishment’ from office.
Senator Walker said that if the JDA wanted to meet him to debate their policies against his, he would be up to the challenge.
He said: ‘I’ve got no problems with public debates at all.
I enjoyed the meeting with Senator Dick Shenton last year, and I think he enjoyed it too.
I am very sad that because of his ill-health he is out of politics at the moment.
I think it is sad.
The audience enjoyed it or got a lot from it.
‘I am always, always ready to explain our policies or have them challenged.
What I think the Island does not need is never-ending attacks on whoever Senator Ted Vibert happens to be angry with at the time.
That is not constructive, it’s destructive, and it doesn’t help Jersey at all.’
