The garage group, which is owned by businessman Tom Scott, is to pay for replacement warranties for cars up to three years old out of its own pocket.

It is thought that around 200 people are affected, and the deal applies only to those who bought their cars from Jacksons or the former St Helier Garages.

Director Paul Collier also promised that there would be no Island job losses as a result of the Longbridge collapse, with those currently working under the Rover banner absorbed into other parts of the group.

He said: ‘The good news is that we can still get parts, because they come through a third party, so we are still able to carry out servicing.’
