This year, however, it will be considerably more challenging as they go into the competition with a much younger team.
Last year’s Plate winners Farnham are not returning to defend their trophy, but 12 UK teams have confirmed their places with SAS and Crystal Palace returning for their third year.
Dopey’s Crew from East Dorset are back for a second time and the nine newcomers are Leapoole, Old Actonians 1 and 2, Red Hot Chilli Leopards, Sabina, Southwick, Serco Intruders, Theale and West Devon.
Jersey’s other representatives will be St Clement, St Lawrence and St Ouen but, once again, no Guernsey teams have accepted the challenge.
The action starts at Fort Regent at 10 am tomorrow and continues until 4.30 pm, offering a challenging schedule for the teams who will play seven 16-minute games, the top four then play-off on Sunday for the main trophy and the plate.
This allows all the teams to remain focused and ready to compete again on the Sunday for a place in the finals.
Top class English umpire Mary Stanley will, once again, be officiating.
Netball development officer Linda Andrews said: ‘This tournament is great for Jersey netball as it provides different opposition and, with the standard of the teams unknown, anticipation is high.’ She added that local sides St Lawrence and St Ouen always produce exciting games and St Clement, local league contenders, will be one of the strongest teams in the competition.
Defending champions Convent field a younger side this time.
The event has been sponsored by ESC and Modern Hotels with the backing of the Jersey Netball Association.
